Previously in my Home Nails review, I mentioned that I got my hair done while getting my gelish manicure, so here's my review of my hair colouring experience at Poise Hair Studio.
Located conveniently at Dhoby Ghaut, I was instantly attracted to the clean and chic looking decor of the place. A professional, no frill kind of clean-cut feeling.
Not to mention their comfortable swivel chairs and shampoo stations too!
I was tended to by Poise's Master Stylist, Qvin, who took great effort in giving me my long overdue haircut, and explained to me what hair colour he has in mind for me: Balayage in a ginger, light brown shade.
Balayage has been around for a while but this timeless technique is recently creeping its way back into being one of the most popular colouring request in salons today, following the trend of ombre hair. Balayage is a French word, meaning to sweep or to paint. True enough, my hair became a canvas for Qvin as he brushed on the Shiseido hair colour with painting-like strokes. This special, freehand technique allows for a more natural looking hair colour with the principal idea of less is more.
Getting parts of my hair bleached first before applying the colours.
And of course, getting my gelish manicure from Home Nails while waiting for my hair to be done.
After having my hair coloured and treated with their shiseido moisturising treatment at the shampoo station, Qvin proceeded to give me some beautiful curls to enhance the balayage effect in my hair.
I swear I will need to get some C or S perm in my ends real soon. It's so pretty!
As explained by Qvin, creating curls helps to show the different tones he has created in my hair, bringing more attention to my sun-kissed natural looking hair colour.
What sets Balayage apart from a traditional hair colouring experience is that the result is totally bespoke to you. With a good Balayage expert like Qvin, he's able to advise on the suitable shades and place the colour to suit my skin tone such that it'll help to brighten up my features.
