BestInSingapore's PizzaDelivery [Sponsored]

Pizzas, anyone?
Been craving for pizza during cheatday for a while; and it seems like Best In Singapore has heard my cheatday wish! Thanks to them, I was able to try out Pizza Delivery Singapore, which was rated the 13 Best Pizza Deliveries in Singapore.

True to its name, Pizza Delivery focuses primarily on online delivery of the pizza experience, striving to provide us an authentic Italian experience with just a click away at our fingertips. An upscale fast-casual concept that serves up artisan-style Neapolitan pizzas and pasta made-on-demand, ready in minutes and delivered to our doorstep all under 1 hour! Neapolitan pizza, also known as pizza Napoletana, is a type of pizza that originated in Naples, Italy. This style of pizza is prepared with simple and fresh ingredients, with a very thin and airy crust at the base

Using air-flown Italian ingredients, coupled with their signature pizza sauce that's simmered for 8 hours and pizza dough that's fermented for 72 hours, the pizzas at Pizza Delivery are made on demand - right on the spot with each incoming order, unlike the usual mass-produced pizzerias, and fired up in their custom-made Italian stone oven replica. The ceramic material of a pizza stone is able to hold heat evenly, which absorbs moisture of the dough as it bakes, hence giving a crispier crust and a unique smoky flavour that a normal kitchen oven will not be able to replicate.

At just $57.80, you'll get 2 large 12" pizza (8 slices) of your choice, along with 6 pieces of Crispy Chicken Wings & Mozzarella Sticks.

And here's the two pizza flavours I've chosen for my bundle.

Le Amatriciana Pizza - $9.90 - $35.00

The all-time Italian favourite with tangy tomato sauce, streaky bacon, sliced yellow onions, red chilli, mozzarella cheese, and garnished with fresh parsley.

You definitely cannot go wrong with a thin crust, stone oven pizza topped with streaky bacon. The bacon bits gave so much savoury flavour to the pizza, while the chopped red chilli added a nice amount of heat to complement the tangy flavour of the tomato sauce and cuts through the creamy heaviness of the mozzarella cheese.

This is the kind of pizza that do not require any added grated Parmesan cheese or chilli flakes; and you'll just reach for the 2nd, 3rd and possibly 4th piece until you're stuffed.

The list of toppings definitely sounded very basic, but sometimes it's the most basic ingredients, when executed perfectly in a dish, which blows you away.

Chicken Alfredo Pizza - $12.90 - $39.00

Take a bite into the ultimate chunky yet tender pieces of chicken breast with fresh cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, capsicum peppers, briny olives and mozzarella cheese in Alfredo cream sauce.

Well, I'm always pro-tomato (over cream based sauces), so perhaps my rating here will be a little biased. I decided to go with this pizza instead of the safest choice of Hawaiian (pineapples belong on pizza, don't argue with me about that!) because an Alfredo pizza sounds pretty new and unique to me. But unfortunately, it turns out that this pizza only wow-ed me with its novelty.

I'll definitely prefer the Le Amatriciana over this. Probably due to the choice of using chicken breast, the meat was a tad dry and tough. The combination of mozzarella cheese with Alfredo cream sauce also lacks the dimension that would have been easily accomplished with a tangy tomato sauce. Overall the taste profile of this pizza is rather flat, but I can totally see a cream-based sauce fan loving this pizza instead.

Mozzarella Cheese Stick (6 pcs) - $11.90

100% Mozzarella sticks battered with golden breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.

As the food were merely lukewarm when delivered, you can no longer create a cheese-pull with the cheese sticks. But if you really desire to have one, I suppose a few minutes of reheating in the airfryer should do the trick?

I totally appreciate that they've added Parmesan cheese to the breadcrumbs coating, which added tons of cheesy flavour to the cheese sticks. Well, we all know Parmesan is the MSG among cheeses, right? The grated Parmesan added so much flavour to the cheese sticks, that I could eat them without the marinara dipping sauce. And although lukewarm and lacking in the cheese-pull effect, the cheese was still chewy and had a great bite, similar to a QQ (bouncy) fishcake.

Crispy Chicken Wings (6 pcs) - $10.90 (was $14.90)

Our house specialty - Juicy, tender and crispy wings fried to perfection!

Love how these battered wings are still crispy despite being lukewarm! While the outside remains crisp and crunchy, the flesh was still tender and juicy. Although the chicken wings themselves weren't exceptionally flavourful, the mayo dipping sauce complemented the subtle flavour of the marinate seasoning really well.

Carbonara Spaghetti - $16.90

Silky white cream sauce accompanied with streaky bacon slices, white wine, garlic, freshly ground pepper and grated Parmesan.
*also available in Linguine

For just $16.90, you'll get A LOT of pasta and bacon bits. Both the HB and I are BIG EATERS, and as we both place our focus on finishing the pasta first, we ended up only finishing 6 of the total 16 slices of pizza, and left half of the chicken wings and cheese sticks untouched.

Taste wise, once again you cannot go wrong with streaky bacon in.... anything. It's amazing how these small pieces of meat can add so much savoury goodness to any dish. However, I'm not sure if it's due to the time taken for delivery, but this was the driest carbonara pasta I've ever eaten. No wait, scratch that. This was the driest pasta (vongole, aglio olio included) I've ever eaten. It taste perfectly fine though, just way too dry.

Another aspect of Pizza Delivery that I really appreciate, is how they not only tag a "best consumed by" time on every packaged order, but also clear stated the time the dish was ready to eat.

Pizza Delivery offers free islandwide delivery with purchases over $60. For a limited time only, enjoy a 1 for 1 promotion deal for all medium and large pizzas.

Japanese food delivered to your doorsteps with sushidelivery.sg [Sponsored]

Craving for some Japanese food, but also feeling too lazy to head out to a Japanese restaurant?
What if I tell you, you can get your craving fixed within an hour with just a few clicks of your mouse?
I kid you not, for that's really what it is with sushidelivery.sg!
Just a few clicks of the mouse and there you have it, a scrumptious Japanese dinner coming up!

I know when it comes to Japanese food, especially for sashimi or sushi with raw fish, freshness is always an issue and some may feel that "delivery" and "freshness" doesn't complement each other that well. But at sushidelivery.sg, not only their fish are sourced daily from Osaka and Hokkaido, they're also flown to Singapore within 18 hours to ensure maximum freshness possible.
In addition, all their cooked food are only prepared by their chefs upon receiving our orders and sent within the hour so there's no worries about getting delivered stale food that has been sitting around for hours.
And while there's a good selection of fresh sashimi on sushidelivery.sg, I'm not really a fan of raw food (but I'm a huge fan of Japanese cuisine in general, so long they're cooked) so it's gonna be an order of bento, donburi and maki rolls! :)

Pork Cutlet (Tonkatsu) Set Bento - $12.90 (Usual $18.30)

At the current promotional price of $12.90, this is definitely a steal! The portion size of the tonkatsu is nothing short of generous and complemented by equally generous servings of fresh salad, chuka kurage (seasoned jellyfish) and takuan (picked daikon).

The tonkatsu was not only tender and flavourful, but still crispy on the outside when I tucked into it after taking a good 10-15 minutes taking my food pictures. >.<
Being a salad-fan, I have to say that their fresh salad didn't disappoint too, fresh and crisp with just the right amount of dressing to not make it too cloying.

Unagi Don - $15.90

No prize for guessing what the HB chose; the (his favourite) Unagi don.
At just $15.90, he got quite a huge piece of the grilled unagi, along with an #eggpornworthy onsen egg.

I'm personally not a fan of unagi, so it'll be unfair for me to comment on the taste of this.
The HB surely enjoyed it though, especially when he could break the yolk and mix the onsen egg wholly into the rice that's already flavoured with the generous amount of unagi sauce slathered on the eel itself.

Champion Floss Maki (8 pcs) - $15.90

Maki roll with chicken, avocado and cucumber, topped with nacho cheese sauce, tobikko (flying fish roe) and fried tempura batter bits.

Initially I wanted to get the Chicken Rainbow Maki because they look so IG-worthy but in the end I decided to go with the Champion Floss Maki as there's a worry that all the coloured toppings might not remain on top of the rainbow maki when delivered. HEH!

And I'm so glad I changed my mind because I love, love, love this, so much! The nacho cheese taste (which is so yums) hits you at the very first bite, followed by the saltiness of the tobikko and the savoury flavour of the seasoned chicken and crunch of the cucumber. And all in all, this myriad of flavour and mouth-feel is littered with the pleasant crunch of the crispy fried tempura batter bits.
Well, it's a champion indeed.
Just having 8 pieces is definitely not enough for a glutton foodie like yours truly.  T.T

Yam Net Sponge Roll (5 pcs) - $5.50

Although I'm not exactly a huge fan of (white) yam, I was no doubt intrigued by the name of this dish and wanted to try it even though I wasn't really sure of what exactly I'm going to get.
It turned out to be seasoned Japanese purple yam, wrapped in vermicelli net and fried till crispy!

Purple yam, also known as Ube, is not to be confused with the purple sweet potatoes although they do taste really similar. I was also confused at my first bite and thought I was eating mashed purple sweet potatoes.
But unlike the purple sweet potatoes, which tends to have a distinctive earthy (soil) taste that I do not appreciate, the Japanese purple yam do not have that unpleasant taste. As the yam is mashed, the creamy and smooth texture of the subtly sweet and fragrant puree complemented the crispy exterior of the fried vermicelli layer very well, and added a lot more dimension to the overall mouth-feel of this dish. Even though it's a deep-fried dish, it doesn't feel overly oily and cloying at all.

Other than the usual bento, donburi, sushi, sashimi and sides, sushidelivery.sg also has sushi/sashimi party sets to make life much easier for you when you're looking to host a mini party for your sushi-loving friends. It's also a plus point that they actually do not skimp on the "plating" aspect of their food in spite of them being delivery-based, which also add on to our "dining experience" in the comfort of our home.
Two thumbs up for you, sushidelivery.sg!

sushidelivery.sg is open from 10am - 11pm daily, offering free delivery for all orders above SGD $60.

Food Tasting: Burger Monster [Honest Review]

If you still don't know, I'm a huge fan of BURGERS! So while this visit to the latest baby of Chicken Up is a food tasting invite, there wasn't any obligation to put up a blog post about it, so you can take this as a 100% honest review.
But oh well, I did say I love burgers though. Like, a lot. :)

-credits to yelp.sg-

Located at a corner of Jurong East MRT Station, just below the platform at Level 1, it might be easy to miss the eatery if not for the cute Burger Monster icon on their distinctive white-blue signboard (and "mis-match" Chicken Up's chicken feet logo on the glass panel).

All these crazy amount of food for just 5 of us (out of which 4 of us are ladies). But we were quick to concede to our impending failure and quickly call-out to our respective partners for help. HAHAHA.
So in the end, a total of 8 pax (4 couples)... still COULDN'T finish all these food. A lonely slice of the insanely big monster burger was leftover in the end.

With their standard, and yet still pretty big (like a McD Big Mac), sized burgers going for $5 to $6 dollars, breadrolls at $3 to $8, and other mains (fried fish & chicken etc) going at $4 to $6, this newly opened Korean burger joint has definitely scored a brownie point for offering you quality food with extremely affordable prices.
Burger Monster also offers a wide variety of small bites and sides, ranging from $2 (Garlic Fried Rice) to $12 (Mini Lobster with Chili Crab Sauce).

To make your burgers/mains a full meal, just top up an additional $3 for fries/garlic fried rice + drink, or $5 to make your drink free flow!
There's also a condiment bar in the eatery, providing 8 different types of sauces, such as cheese, wasabi mayo and yangnyum etc, for you to try out!

But I guess their most popular dish (that's highly raved on IG) has got to be this massive, 1KG birthday cake lookalike, 22cm big Monster Burger, which comes in either Beef or Chicken Bulgogi flavour.

Priced at just $20 for this ridiculously huge burger, you can easily feed 4 hungry men with it, no joke. I would even recommend up to 6 (ladies) with a small selection of sides to share for a more comfortable, non-tummy bursting meal.

Couldn't try this Monster Burger out because I don't take beef, but I did cut pieces of the huge buns to try out and instantly got ADDICTED. These buns are so fluffy, and even slightly crisp at the edges. I think I must have (at least) asked the BF to "cut me a piece of your bread" at least 4 to 5 times while he's eating his two slices of the insanely oversized burger.

Shark Burger - $6

This has got to be my favourite burger of the day! Thick fillet of fried shark meat topped with (a lot of) shredded onions, sliced tomatoes, fresh lettuce & cheese, and sandwiched between two extremely soft and fluffy buns. The shark fillet is also generously drenched with a spicy and slightly sweet (yangnyum?) sauce that probably helped/serves to cover the otherwise distinctive "fishy" smell of shark meat. And the sauce must have done a great job, because I couldn't taste that "fishy" taste of shark meat at all. The meat was also more moist and tender as compared to our usual dry and tough stir-fried shark meat.
My only complaint is, the burger is too big to be eaten.... well, like how a burger should be eaten. It is absolutely impossible to get a bite of everything with one bite. Pretty sure all of us ate it the deconstructed-burger way.

 Grilled Chicken Burger - $5

Even though this pales slightly in comparison to the Shark Burger, I can't deny that it is still a very good chicken burger. There wasn't any special sauce to oomph up the flavour, but the grilled chicken was thick, tender and still pretty juicy.
And well, you can always add whatever sauce you fancy to this burger over at the condiment bar, so all is good!

The other two mains, the Unagi Roll ($8) and Fried Seabass ($8) unfortunately didn't do very well at impressing us. I completely skipped the Unagi Roll (because I really dislike Unagi, sorry!) but both the BF and Oyhz claims that the breadroll and the unagi tasted like separated dish. I also found that the breadroll didn't really hold up very well with the unagi, sauce and all. Just a small slice of my knife and the whole unagi roll disintegrated upon itself.
As for the Fried Seabass, it might have been because we took way too long at taking photos, so much so that it has turned cold and harden. If it's not for the fact that there's another 7 pax waiting to try a bite, I would have just stick my fork in, pick up the entire fillet and take a bite directly out if it. Slicing it was just like slicing through rubber. The meat was also dry and a little tough, probably overcooked.

Black Ball ($7) & Mini Lobster ($12)

And now for the two dishes which were quite highly anticipated, but failed to deliver.
The black ball was pretty much just, sotong ball made black. Not sure if they've added in squid ink or not, but... it really just taste like your standard sotong ball, except that it's black. At one point I strongly believed that something special must be hidden within the ball, but there was absolutely nothing. The white bits you see are just small chunks of sotong.
As for the mini lobster, it's really.... tiny. All the effort of peeling the shell, only to get the meat that's equivalent to HALF the size of a shrimp. But to be fair, the chili crab sauce does taste pretty decent though.

Burger Monster is located at 10 Jurong East Street 12 #01-01 Jurong East MRT Station
and is open daily from 11am to 10pm.

Focus Hairdressing: Mucota Omega & Free Scena+ Home Treatment

In case you missed my previous hair post, I've gotten some pretty C-Curls while having Mucota Omega rebonding done at Focus Hairdressing (read about my experience HERE)

Loves how this volume rebonding gave... well, volume (duh!) to an otherwise-will-be-very-flat rebonded hair and also added some pretty loose curls at the ends.
But taking care of the curls do need some work (and skills).

But thank goodness I have my #sponsoredbythebf Dyson Supersonic, which comes with a diffuser attachment that made blowing out the curls a breeze.

But of course, as I was seriously lacking in skills, I never managed to get back those pretty, fancy looking curls Ken blew out for me back at the salon. But having some curls in my dead-straight-for-more-than-ten-years hair was definitely a great change and I've been getting compliments on my new hairdo every now and then.

But, oh well, all good things must come to an end.
About 5 to 6 months after getting the curls done, they were pretty much reduced into a tiny flick at the end, which honestly speaking, looked kind of messy in my opinion, for they always choose to flick in all different directions.
But I reckon it was mostly because of my serious lack of skills in blow-drying and eventually also gave up/got too lazy to continue with it (I just left my hair to air dry and didn't even bother to do all the twisty-curly motions).

And so, I decided. Goodbye, curls. It was good while it lasted.

Returned to Focus Hairdressing again, this time to regain the smooth and straight hair via Mucota Omega Oil Therapy again.

Hello again, soft & smooth straight hair. :)

Food Tasting Invite: Don't Tell Mama

Don't Tell Mama (DTMM) is a Korean-Mexican fusion bistro & bar under the same F&B management group that has brought to us Chicken Up. Located along Tanjong Pagar Road (beside Chicken up), DTMM brings to us an exquisite pairing of Mexican and Korean dishes, infused with creativity and flair. The bar boasts of classic, novel and fun cocktails.

The bistro/bar has an interesting decor concept that's industrialistic from the rustic pipe lights and raw concrete finishing and yet modern and cute with hanging mason jar lights and colourful lightbulbs.

The handcrafted pallet tables are complemented by recycled plastic crates alongside oil drums and tire tables.

And of course, beers on taps!

And let's move on to the yums yums for the night, shall we?

Frozen Cocktail + Upturned Soju (Sojurita) - $25
From left: Parcharita (Passionfruit, Mango & Tequila), Strawberrita (Strawberry & Tequila) & Lycherita (Lychee & Tequila)

The rest of the ladies seems to rate Lycherita as the best of the lot but I'll very much prefer Parcharita. Love the tangy, citrus flavour of the passionfruit when it paired up with the soju. I couldn't taste much of the alcohol (tequila) in the frozen cocktail itself though. As long as you don't disturn the upturned soju bottle too much, most of the soju remains in the bottle until you finished about 90% of the drink, only then the soju will start rushing out of the bottle due to lost in the pressure. So you can easily control how alcoholic you want your drink to be!
Cool, right?

Lightbulb Sodas - $5
From left: Strawberry Soda, Blue Lemon Soda

Yes, those mini lightbulbs hanging from the top of the big lightbulb FLASHES. They just look super-duper adorable and were welcomed with excited squeals from all of us as the staff brought them to our table.
The strawberry flavour can be a little light, and most of us preferred the tangy blue lemon.
They also do alcoholic cocktail versions of these lightbulb drinks, so guys... if you want to bring your girlfriend out for a drink. You know where to go now.

Bulgogi Quesadilla - $14
Authentic Korean bulgogi stuffed in baked tortillas and topped with melted mozzarella cheese, served with guacamole and sour cream.

Not a beef eater, hence skipped this. From the reactions from the rest of the ladies, I've obviously missed out.... big time.

Prawn Burrito - $12
Prawn Burrito topped with freshly chopped onions, jalapeno and salsa roja.

This obviously is not your usual burrito as it has a lot more going on on the outside (all those cheese and toppings) as compared to a traditional burrito.
I guess if one day, Mr. Burrito and Ms. Pizza fell in love, this shall be their baby. HAHAHA!
Not sure if it's the distinctive taste of salsa roja or not, but it has a characteristic "Indian dish" taste of strong spices to it. It was also one of the first few dishes to be served, but also one of the last dishes we've tasted. Might have done a lot better if it was still warm and not significantly harden up.

Fried Chicken Gizzard - $8

This is the very first time in my life that I've eaten a gizzard, or an internal organ of any sorts of an animal, and it was surprisingly tasty! Extremely chewy, this should go perfectly well with a mug of nice cold beer. But it might also be a little too spicy if you do not take spicy food very well.
I love the spiciness though. Yum yum!

Spicy Lollipops - $8

These are actually chicken drumlets made to look like 'lollipops' and slathered with spicy korean sauce, which I believe is the yangnyum sauce (both sweet and spicy). The meat is tender and well flavoured, and it's extremely easy to eat as compared to a conventional drumlet as the meat somehow comes off the bone much easier.

Fried Chicken Wings - $8

Fried till crisp on the outside, well flavoured and tender, you cannot go wrong with this fried chicken wings. Just do not expect yourself to look all dainty and glamorous while eating this.
No, not happening.

Kimchi Fries - $18
Sauteed kimchi, soy-seasoned chicken on crispy french fries with kimchi sauce and sour cream.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LURVEEEEE THIS!
Okay, I'm kimchi-bias, I admit. Put kimchi in anything (except beef) and I'll love it. But come on, french fries, with shredded chicken and kimchi? How can anyone not love this?

Onion Bomb -$12

Actually, I HATE onions. But this, I ate it, and quite a bit.
Other than looking ridiculously pretty, the batter also has a yummy, peppery flavour which complements the sweetness of the onion really well.

DTMM is currently have a Beer for a Dollar Deal, whereby you can get a 330ml beer for only $1 with a purchase of any DTMM entree from Mondays to Thursdays, 5 - 7pm.

From next month (February 2017) onwards, enjoy BOTTOMLESS beer or margarita for only $30++ (for ladies) or $40++ (for gentlemen), from 7-10pm daily for the whole month of February.
